Antique Society Silk Embroidered Centerpiece

"Roses and Lace"

Item Number T33108

Embroidered silk Roses surround the border of this beautiful antique linen tea cloth or centerpiece.  Fine work and careful detail leave no doubt as to the style of work or, for that matter, the floral species.  Cream linen is medium weight...the edge is finished with earth brown embroidered scallops and a deep hand made Cluny lace flounce.

Green floss colors vary as if the sun were reflecting on one and not the others...but truthfully, the needle worker likely ran out of one shade and finished with another!...charming, don't you think?!  Pale yellowish dye bleed, shown below, is minor but worth noting.  Freshly laundered and pressed, in otherwise excellent condition.  c.1890 - 1910  33" including 4.75" lace
