The Most Beautiful Pair of

Vintage German Eiderdown Coverlets....ever!

Item Number S24910

The German culture and practice of frugality and efficiency can be seen in the size and features found in vintage eiderdowns.  Plush, fine feather filled tiny comforters were laid at the foot of the bed atop other coverlets to add extra warmth.  Small button holes near the corners can be seen below embroidered in black and were used to affix the eiderdown to the covers beneath it to keep it from sliding off the bed.  If fact, all the upper bedding pieces were buttoned or tied together, thus reducing the amount of fabric required and making the bed super simple to make and keep tidy.

Go ahead and scroll down...I know you want to!

Splendid chintz on a black background will stop you in your tracks (and make you want to go to bed early every night, forever) the moment you lay eyes on them.  I nearly fainted when I saw them...couldn't believe there were two just alike...and they were perfect...but I digress. You will want to dress your twin beds with your best linen in preparation for these beautiful eiderdowns.

These two vintage eiderdowns were once used atop matching twin beds, as was the customary sleeping arrangement for many (most?) German couples.  If they shared a bed, they each had their own top sheet, bed cover and eiderdown...exceedingly practical albeit not terrible romantic.  These are identical and both sides are alike so you can flip them periodically. I could find no flaws on these pieces.  They came to me clean and can be used right out of the box.  48" X 65"
