Antique Embroidered Wool Runner

Item Number R11207

Long, jewel toned wool runner was at one time finished with pom pom tassels and dark green velvet trim.  Imagine! Most of the tassels are gone and the velvet edging has come loose in many places.   But the work, executed in fine wool and richly shaded, is exceptional and worth recycling ...this is a show-stopper and might just be the piece you need to complete or inspire a redesign or makeover.  Grapes, pears, corn, peaches and wild roses are artfully arranged along the piece.  It is long enough to be divided for bolsters or valences...or framed as a headboard??....would make a wonderful wall hanging with a bit of repair...or even, a runner!  Very minor moth damage does not go through and can be ignored.  Needs to be vacuumed.  Do not dry clean or launder.  Offered as found, in good, sturdy, reusable condition.  c.1850 - 1880's   " X "
