Antique Monogrammed

European Linen Shams, "VG"

Item Number P21307

In progressive San Diego, California, c.1960's, grade school marks were, well, progressive.  "VG" stood for "Very Good" or, not quite perfect.  Here, it stands for Superb...

Finest wet spun antique linen shams are cool to the touch and ever-so drapey...only the finest back drop for such a perfectly wonderful hand embroidered French rembourré style embroidered monogram, "VG".   Both shams have very fine repairs that are hardly visible, shown below.  One has a tiny hole, also shown. The linen is divine to touch and creamy white.  A heavily embroidered flange was executed entirely by hand.  The backs close with hand sewn button holes and old shell buttons. Freshly laundered and pressed, in excellent condition with fine old repairs.  c.1890 -- 1910's   27.5" X 30" not including embroidered trim.
