Antique French Linen Damask Napkins

                             Monogrammed "ML"

Item Number N097011

Enormous antique French linen damask napkins are monogrammed on the center edge of each, "ML".  Some call them "lapkins" as they were made large enough to cover the substantial skirts of 19th century women, these would definitely qualify as such!  If you love the thought that these were once used at a French table seated with grandly attired Victorian ladies, these will surely provide you with ample food for your imagination.

The hand embroidered monogram is beautifully executed in a whimsical script. The thick woven damask in a check pattern is creamy white and quite substantial, the perfect weight for these "every day" antique French napkins....imagine!  One piece has an ancient darn, shown below, that I am certain will outlive us all.  Very minor age will launder away, also shown. They are in otherwise excellent condition and are clean and pressed.  c.1890's - 1920's   27" X 31.5"
