Vintage Linen Embroidered Mats / Napkins

Dessert Set, Pink!

Item Number M019410

Oh.My.WORD.  If this were an edible confection, you would gain 5 lbs

just looking at this page.  Continue viewing at your own risk!

Delicious, crisp pink linen is gloriously (yes, gloriously!) embroidered in contrasting white with elaborate vines and finished with scalloped hems.  Oh, my WORD!  (I know I already said that, but really?) You must promise me you will sit down whilst opening the package as I can not guarantee you will remain conscious.

This set was originally intended for desert or breakfast.  The larger mats were known as "plate silencers" and were used in the same way we use chargers today.  The smaller mats were used beneath a smaller dish, again as a plate silencer.  But they are the perfect size to use as cocktail mats or coasters.  A beautiful, beautiful set...  A few small spots on a few pieces, shown below, will disappear when these are laundered next.  Offered as found, in near perfect condition.  c.1920's - 40's  Mats 10.75" 12 Coasters 5"
