Unused Antique Quilted French Boutis Bib

Item Number C10204

Antique whole cloth quilts in the French style of quilting, called "Boutis", are characterized by elaborately stitched patterns and details applied to a single, large piece of fabric.  This style featured the stitching and design prowess of the maker and so were often very well done.  They often became treasured heirlooms which are handed down in families.  This little bib is after the boutis style of hand quilting that is so fine it appears to have been done by machine.  According to Graced by Lace by Debra Bonito these were made in Switzerland and sometimes had embroidered details.  Lovely and collectable.  Excellent condition, offered as found.  c.1890 - 1910  7" X 8.5"
